Keterlibatan Ulama Dalam Menekan Kemiskinan Di Gampong Blang Nie Kecamatan Simpang Ulim Kabupaten Aceh Timur

Abstract

Poverty is a major problem in rural areas, including in East Aceh. As religious leaders, ulama (Islamic scholars) play a strategic role in helping reduce poverty through religious and social approaches. This study aims to describe the ulama's programs to reduce poverty and analyze their role in improving the welfare of the community in Gampong Blang Nie, Simpang Ulim District, East Aceh Regency. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation with ulama, the community, and village leaders. The results show that ulama play a role through several programs, such as community-based economic empowerment, education on the values of work and independence through sermons and religious studies, optimization of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah (charity), and increasing public awareness and education. Ulama also function as facilitators, motivators, and mediators between the community and the government in addressing socio-economic problems. The findings of this study confirm that the involvement of ulama has a significant influence in reducing poverty. Therefore, the involvement of religious scholars in village socio-economic development programs can be an effective strategy for community empowerment based on Islamic values and local wisdom.
